Devanahalli, Bengaluru

Devanahalli is a historic town north-east of Bengaluru, in the renamed Bengaluru North district (formerly Bangalore Rural). Kempegowda International Airport lies just south of the town, and National Highway 44 (Bellary Road) runs past it towards Chikkaballapur and Hyderabad. The town is known as the birthplace of Tipu Sultan; its stone fort, first built as a mud fort in 1501, still stands, with the Venugopala Swamy temple inside.

Since the airport opened in 2008, the belt between Yelahanka and Devanahalli has changed quickly. Planning is handled by the Bengaluru International Airport Area Planning Authority (BIAAPA). Business parks such as Brigade Industrial Park and Prestige Tech Cloud Park have come up, and large manufacturing and office investments, including a Foxconn plant and a Boeing campus, are in the wider area. Daily life is still quieter than in the city, and many residents drive to Hebbal, Manyata Tech Park or the airport for work. The Blue Line metro to the airport is under construction and will end at the terminals rather than in the town.

The housing stock is mostly large gated townships, plotted layouts and villa communities spread along the highway and the roads to Bagalur and Nandi Hills. Buyers are a mix of end users working near the airport and investors buying plots for the long term.
