Banashankari, Bengaluru

Banashankari is a large residential area in south Bengaluru, named after the Banashankari Amma temple on Kanakapura Road. It is split into stages, from Banashankari 1st Stage near Srinagar to the 6th Stage out towards Kengeri. Basavanagudi and Jayanagar are to the north-east, JP Nagar and Padmanabhanagar to the east and south-east, Rajarajeshwari Nagar to the west and Girinagar and Hosakerehalli to the north. It falls within the Greater Bengaluru Authority, which replaced BBMP in 2025.

Much of Banashankari was laid out by the Bangalore Development Authority, and it remains a family neighbourhood of independent houses, with apartments along the ring road and on the outer stages. It is well served. The Green Line has a Banashankari station, the Banashankari bus station is a major BMTC terminal, and PES University is on the Outer Ring Road. Markets, temples, schools and hospitals are spread through the stages, and Jayanagar's shopping is close. Traffic on Kanakapura Road and the ORR junctions is heavy at peak hours, and the outer stages are some distance from the metro.

Buyers are typically south Bengaluru families and professionals who want a settled area with good transport. IndiProp lists three projects. Sobha Royal Crest is priced from about ₹1 crore with possession due in December 2028, which is more than two years away. Adarsh Premia, from about ₹2.5 crore, had possession due in March 2022, and Brigade 7 Gardens, from about ₹78 lakh, in December 2021. Both of those are complete and ready to move into; their listed prices may be dated, so confirm current rates with the developers.
