Jakkur, Bengaluru

Jakkur is in north Bengaluru, on the eastern side of Bellary Road (NH 44) between Hebbal and Yelahanka. Kodigehalli and Sahakara Nagar are to the south, Thanisandra and Hegde Nagar to the east, Kogilu and Yelahanka to the north. It is best known for two open spaces: Jakkur Aerodrome, opened in 1948 and home to the Government Flying Training School, and Jakkur Lake, a large lake that has been revived with sewage treatment and constructed wetlands and is a regular spot for birdwatchers.

Jakkur has become a residential suburb for people working in Manyata Tech Park, Hebbal and the offices along the Outer Ring Road. Bellary Road gives a direct run to Hebbal and the airport, and Thanisandra Main Road links the area with the Nagawara and Manyata side. Local roads can be narrow and water quality in the lake has slipped at times since 2016. The Blue Line metro's airport section, with a Jakkur Cross station on Bellary Road, is under construction.

Housing is a mix of village-era houses, small apartment buildings and gated projects from branded developers, many of them built in the 2010s. Buyers are mainly young professionals and families working in north Bengaluru, and 1 and 2 BHK homes are common in the newer projects.

IndiProp lists 2 projects in Jakkur, both shown as ready to move. Sobha HRC Pristine by Sobha has 2, 3 and 4 BHK homes; possession was due in December 2022 and it was listed from about ₹1.29 crore. Brigade Bricklane by Brigade Group has 1 and 2 BHK homes of 405 to 635 sq ft carpet area; possession was due in January 2022 and it was listed from about ₹38 lakh. Prices on both may be dated.
