Kandivali East lies between the Western Railway line and Sanjay Gandhi National Park, with Malad East to the south and Borivali East to the north. The Western Express Highway runs through it, and large planned areas such as Thakur Village, Lokhandwala Township and Samta Nagar sit on either side of the highway, along with Akurli Road and Poisar.
Much of Kandivali East was built up from the 1990s onwards, so the housing stock is newer than in older western suburbs. Thakur Village in particular is a township of high-rise societies with schools, colleges and shops inside it. The national park forms a green edge to the east. Buyers are mainly salaried families, many working in Goregaon, Malad and Andheri, and first-time buyers moving up from smaller homes further north.
Metro Line 7, running along the highway from Gundavali in Andheri East to Dahisar East, has stations at Akurli, Poisar and Kurar near the area. Kandivali station on the Western line is on the western edge, and the highway connects to Goregaon, Andheri and the airport. Growel's 101 Mall on Akurli Road is the main mall.
IndiProp lists 1 project here: Kalpataru Vienta, listed from ₹2.96 crore. Its possession was due in June 2026, so it is shown as ready to move; buyers should check the handover status and current pricing with the developer. The highway is slow at peak hours, and reaching the railway station from the eastern pockets can take time.
