Chembur, Mumbai

Chembur is in the eastern suburbs, east of Sion and Kurla and west of Trombay and Mankhurd. Sion-Trombay Road runs through it, the Eastern Express Highway passes its western edge, and the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road connects it to Kalina and the western suburbs. The Eastern Freeway, which runs south to the port area, ends near Chembur.

Chembur is one of the older planned suburbs of the city, settled after 1947 and known for its tree-lined lanes around the Diamond Garden and the Chembur Gymkhana. It also has a long link with Hindi cinema: Raj Kapoor's R.K. Studios stood here, and the site has since been redeveloped by Godrej Properties. Housing ranges from old bungalows and low-rise societies to newer towers. Buyers are often families already rooted in the eastern suburbs and professionals working in BKC, Kurla and Navi Mumbai.

Chembur station is on the Harbour line. Metro Line 2B opened its first section, Mandale to Diamond Garden, in April 2026, and Chembur station followed in August 2026; the rest of the line to BKC and DN Nagar is under construction. The Eastern Freeway gives a fast road to south Mumbai.

Studios site (possession was due in June 2024, listed from ₹1.25 crore), Purva Clermont (March 2026, from ₹2.4 crore), Godrej Central (December 2020, from ₹1.21 crore), Godrej Prime (May 2022, from ₹2.1 crore), Godrej Prive (May 2022, from ₹2.92 crore) and Godrej Nova (May 2022, from ₹1.85 crore). Prices should be confirmed. Air quality near the Trombay refineries and the Deonar dumping ground is a concern for parts of the area.
