Lower Parel, Mumbai

Lower Parel lies in central Mumbai between Worli to the west, Parel to the east, Mahalaxmi to the south and Prabhadevi to the north. Senapati Bapat Marg and Ganpatrao Kadam Marg run through it, and Lower Parel station is on the Western line. For much of the twentieth century it was the heart of the city's textile industry.

When the mills closed, their land was redeveloped. Kamala Mills, Phoenix Mills and several other compounds turned into offices, restaurants, hotels and malls, and Phoenix Palladium (earlier High Street Phoenix) is now one of the city's largest shopping centres. Media houses, banks and consultancies have offices here, and residential towers have risen on former mill plots, several of them among the tallest in the city. Buyers are mainly senior professionals, business families and investors attracted by rental demand from the offices nearby, alongside older residents in chawls and mill-worker housing that still stand.

Metro Line 3 stations at Science Museum and Acharya Atre Chowk in Worli are close by, and the Aqua Line has been fully open since October 2025. Lower Parel station serves Western line trains, and Parel on the Central line is a short walk east across the rebuilt Delisle Road bridge. The Coastal Road and the Bandra-Worli Sea Link are reached through Worli.
