Mahalaxmi, Mumbai

Mahalaxmi is in south-central Mumbai, around the Mahalaxmi Racecourse and the Mahalaxmi Temple on the coast. Tardeo and Haji Ali lie to the south-west, Worli to the north, Lower Parel to the north-east and Jacob Circle to the east. The Western line's Mahalaxmi station and the Dhobi Ghat open-air laundry are on its eastern side.

The area mixes old and new. The racecourse and the Willingdon Club give it rare open space for the island city, and the temple and Haji Ali Dargah draw visitors every day. Former mill land and old industrial plots near Jacob Circle and Keshavrao Khadye Marg have been redeveloped into tall residential towers. Homes here are among the most expensive in the city, and buyers are mostly business families and senior professionals who want a central address between south Mumbai and Lower Parel.

Metro Line 3 has a Mahalaxmi station, part of the Aqua Line that has been fully open since October 2025, linking the area with Worli, BKC, the airport and Cuffe Parade. The Coastal Road has an interchange at Haji Ali, giving a quick drive north to the Bandra-Worli Sea Link and south to Marine Drive.

IndiProp lists 4 projects in Mahalaxmi. Raheja Vivarea (listed from ₹12.91 crore) and Lodha Bellevue (from ₹4.05 crore) have possession due in December 2026. Godrej Avenue Eleven (possession was due in December 2024, from ₹11.55 crore) and Piramal Mahalaxmi (June 2025, from ₹4.81 crore) are shown as ready to move. Prices should be confirmed. Roads around Jacob Circle and the racecourse are congested at peak hours.
