Wadala, Mumbai

Wadala lies in central Mumbai, east of Dadar and Matunga, with Sion to the north, Sewri to the south and the salt pans and Mumbai Port land towards the east. The Harbour line runs through it, with Wadala Road station on the western side, and the Eastern Freeway passes along its eastern edge.

Wadala West, near the station and Five Gardens, has older buildings, colleges and some of the city's older Parsi and Catholic housing. Wadala East, around Bhakti Park, the Wadala Truck Terminal and Antop Hill, was long industrial and used for port and transport activity. MMRDA marked a large area here as a planned business district, and the last fifteen years have brought several large residential projects, including tall towers next to the Eastern Freeway. Buyers are typically professionals who want a central location at a lower price than Dadar or Worli, and families moving from older parts of the island city.

Wadala Road station connects with CSMT and the Harbour line suburbs. Metro Line 4 will start at Bhakti Park and run along the Eastern Express Highway and LBS Marg to Thane, but it is under construction. The Eastern Freeway gives a quick drive to south Mumbai, and Atal Setu to Navi Mumbai starts at nearby Sewri.

IndiProp lists 5 projects in Wadala. Godrej Horizon, listed from ₹3.29 crore, has possession due in April 2028, more than eighteen months away. The Lodha New Cuffe Parade projects are shown as ready to move: Lodha New Cuffe Parade (possession was due in September 2019, from ₹3.15 crore), Lodha Evoq (August 2019, from ₹6.49 crore), Lodha Estrella (June 2019, from ₹1.67 crore) and Lodha Altia (February 2022, from ₹2.66 crore). Prices should be confirmed. Truck traffic near the terminal is heavy.
