Wagholi, Pune

Wagholi is the next stop east of Kharadi on Nagar Road, the Pune-Ahilyanagar highway, on the north-eastern edge of the city. The Wagheshwar temple at its entrance gives the place its name. For years it was a gram panchayat on the highway; in 2021 it became one of the 23 villages merged into the Pune Municipal Corporation, and it is now one of the larger housing belts on the eastern side.

Most buyers here work in Kharadi's EON IT Park and World Trade Center, in Viman Nagar or in the Nagar Road offices, and choose Wagholi because entry prices are lower than in Kharadi. Engineering colleges such as G H Raisoni and JSPM have campuses here too. IndiProp lists 5 projects in Wagholi. Pristine Properties has three of them (Pristine City, Neo City and Purvrang), with Nyati Elan and VTP Purvanchal alongside. Four of the five are ready to move, and the stock is largely compact 1 and 2 BHK flats in large gated layouts.

The drawback is the highway. Nagar Road through Wagholi is congested at peak hours, and some inner roads are narrow or unfinished, such as the long-delayed Bakori Road. Relief is planned but not close. The Union Cabinet approved the Ramwadi-Wagholi metro extension in 2025 with stations at Wagheshwar Temple and Wagholi, and PMRDA is planning an elevated corridor on the highway towards Shirur that is expected to take nearly four years to build. Wagholi suits first-time buyers and eastern-corridor employees who can live with the commute.
