About Chinchwad, Pune
One half of the twin towns that give Pimpri-Chinchwad its name, Chinchwad sits on the Pavana river in the north-west of the Pune region. The old Mumbai-Pune highway and the Pune-Lonavala suburban railway pass through it, with Chinchwad station on the line, and the Morya Gosavi temple gives the old town its identity. Around it lies the industrial belt that built Pimpri-Chinchwad, from Bhosari MIDC to the auto plants in Pimpri and Akurdi.
Chinchwad today is a mature suburb with housing societies, markets and good healthcare. Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital, a 500-bed hospital opened in 2006, is in neighbouring Thergaon, and Elpro City Square near Chaphekar Chowk opened in 2019.
