Tathawade, Pune

Tathawade is a Pimpri-Chinchwad neighbourhood on the city's north-western edge, between Wakad to the south and Punawale and Ravet to the north, with the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway running along its western side. Hinjewadi's IT park is just across the highway, which is the main reason the area grew from a small village into a dense housing and college belt.

Education is the other anchor. JSPM, Indira College and the Balaji institutes have campuses here, and Orchids International School and Blossom Public School are among the schools. Phoenix Mall of the Millennium in Wakad and Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital in Thergaon are the nearest large retail and hospital options.

All three are built around compact 1 and 2 BHK flats, the typical unit mix for buyers who work in Hinjewadi and want to stay within PCMC. Tathawade suits young IT households who want to live close to Hinjewadi. The daily commute is the catch. Traffic on the highway and the Wakad-Hinjewadi approach is heavy at peak hours, and PCMC has been widening roads in Wakad, Tathawade and Punawale, including demolitions for road expansion. NHAI's proposed 24 km, six-lane Ravet-Narhe elevated road along the highway, which would pass Tathawade, was still awaiting central approval in early 2025. The Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar metro, with a Wakad Chowk station, is due to open in phases.
