Electronic City, Bengaluru

Electronic City is the IT and electronics township on Hosur Road in Anekal taluk, south-east of Silk Board. It covers about 800 acres around Konappana Agrahara and Doddathogur villages, in four phases, and is home to the campuses of Infosys, Wipro, TCS, HCL, Tech Mahindra and Biocon. Around 100,000 people work there. The township itself is maintained by the Electronic City Industrial Township Authority (ELCITA), while the residential villages around it are under town panchayats and municipal councils.

Two pieces of infrastructure shape life here. The elevated expressway from Silk Board, opened in 2010, carries traffic over the old Hosur Road. The Yellow Line metro, opened in August 2025, runs from RV Road to Bommasandra with stations at Electronic City and Infosys Foundation Konappana Agrahara, and gives a rail link to BTM Layout and Jayanagar. NICE Road meets Hosur Road here, giving access to Kanakapura Road and Mysore Road.

Housing is mostly mid-size apartment complexes and gated projects in Phase 1, Phase 2, Neeladri Road, Doddathogur and Hebbagodi, built for people working in the township. Rents and prices are lower than on the Outer Ring Road, and 2 BHK homes are the most common stock. Roads inside the villages are narrow, and civic services vary from one layout to the next.
