Magadi Road, Bengaluru

Magadi Road runs west from the Binny Mills and Majestic side of central Bengaluru through Agrahara Dasarahalli, Kamakshipalya and Sunkadakatte, crosses the Outer Ring Road and continues towards Magadi town. Rajajinagar and Basaveshwaranagar lie to the north, Vijayanagar to the south. This guide covers the inner stretch near Vijayanagar and Rajajinagar.

The inner stretch is an older, working part of west Bengaluru, with small industries, wholesale markets and dense residential streets. The Purple Line metro runs to the south, with Magadi Road, Hosahalli and Vijayanagar stations linking the area with Majestic, MG Road and, in the other direction, Kengeri and Challaghatta. Orion Mall and the Rajajinagar markets are close, and Majestic and KSR Bengaluru City railway station are a short trip east. The road itself is narrow in stretches and slow for much of the day.

Housing has traditionally been independent houses and small apartment buildings. In recent years a few large gated projects have come up on former industrial land, offering buyers an apartment in the western city close to the metro. Buyers are families from Vijayanagar, Rajajinagar and Basaveshwaranagar moving into gated complexes, and professionals who want a central address in the west.
