Tardeo, Mumbai

Tardeo is in south Mumbai, between Grant Road and Nana Chowk to the north-east, Mumbai Central to the east, Haji Ali and Mahalaxmi to the north and Malabar Hill and Cumballa Hill to the west. Tardeo Road runs through it, and the AC Market and Tardeo circle are local landmarks.

It is a compact, well-established neighbourhood with a mix of old Art Deco and colonial-era buildings, mid-century apartment blocks and a few very tall residential towers, among them The Imperial twin towers built on a former slum site. Bhatia Hospital is on Tardeo Road. Being next to Malabar Hill, Breach Candy and the business districts of Nariman Point and Lower Parel, it attracts business families and senior professionals who want a south Mumbai address. Homes here are among the most expensive in India, and new supply is very limited.

Mumbai Central station, on the Western line with long-distance trains, is next door, and Grant Road station is close. Metro Line 3 stations at Mumbai Central and Grant Road serve the area, with the Aqua Line running to Cuffe Parade and to BKC and the airport. The Coastal Road interchange at Haji Ali is a short drive, giving a quick run to Marine Drive or the Bandra-Worli Sea Link.
