Shivaji Nagar, Pune

Shivaji Nagar is the administrative and educational core of central Pune, just north of Deccan and across the river from the old city. Its streets hold the District Court, Shivajinagar railway station and bus stand, the College of Engineering Pune, Fergusson College and Modern College. Fergusson College Road and Jangli Maharaj Road are its busiest shopping and eating streets, and Ganeshkhind Road leads north to Savitribai Phule Pune University.

Few parts of Pune are as well connected by public transport. Shivaji Nagar station is on the Purple Line from PCMC to Swargate, the District Court station is the interchange with the Aqua Line, and the District Court will also be the eastern end of Metro Line 3 from Hinjewadi. In April 2026 MahaMetro said it had completed talks with MSRTC on a multimodal hub at Shivajinagar that would bring metro, state buses and PMPML together in one place, with construction to follow once an agreement is signed.

Housing here is mostly old bungalows, housing societies and a growing number of redevelopment towers, so new supply is limited and usually high-end. IndiProp lists one project in Shivaji Nagar, Saarrthi Signature Tower by Saarrthi Group, with 3 and 4 BHK homes. Buyers should expect heavy traffic on the main roads, older neighbouring buildings and limited open space. Shivaji Nagar suits buyers who want to live at the centre of the city, close to colleges, courts, government offices and transport.
