About Hinjewadi Phase 2, Pune
Phase 2 is the middle section of the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park, west of Phase 1 and largely on the land of Maan village in Mulshi taluka. It is a campus district more than a neighbourhood. Infosys has a large campus here with multiple development blocks, Wipro has its Phase 2 campus, and Quadron Business Park adds multi-tenant office space. Press reports also place IBM and Mindtree in this phase.
Housing is thinner on the ground than in Phase 1 or Wakad, and most of it sits on the edges of the campuses towards Maan. It covers 5.44 acres with 383 homes in five towers of 19 floors, all 2 and 3 BHK. For someone who works at Infosys, Wipro or Quadron, that means walking or a very short drive to the office rather than the daily crawl from Wakad or Baner.
The metro changes the picture for Phase 2 more than for any other part of Hinjewadi. Metro Line 3 starts at Megapolis Society in Maan and runs through Quadron Business Park, Dohler, Infosys Phase 2 and Wipro Technologies Phase 2 stations before heading to Shivajinagar, and this western end was in the first group PMRDA planned to open. PMRDA and MIDC have also proposed about 19 km of last-mile roads around eight metro stations in the IT park and revived road links towards Maan and Marunji. Until those are built, expect narrow approach roads, few shops and schools, and waterlogging in heavy rain.
