Gahunje, Pune

Most people know Gahunje for cricket. The Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, inaugurated on 1 April 2012 and seating 42,700, stands in this village beside the Mumbai-Pune Expressway on the north-western outskirts of Pune. The village is in Mawal taluka, across the Pavana river from the PCMC area and close to the expressway's Pune end at Kiwale and Dehu Road.

Residential development here is concentrated in one large township. Lodha Belmondo, by Lodha Developers, spreads over about 100 acres along the banks of the Pavana river opposite the stadium and includes a golf course. It is also the one project IndiProp lists for Gahunje, with homes from 1 to 4 BHK. The township format means most daily needs are meant to be met inside the gates, and it attracts buyers who want space and a resort-style setting, including some who split time between Pune and Mumbai.

For work, the drive options are the Hinjewadi IT park to the south via the Mumbai-Bengaluru highway, the Pimpri-Chinchwad industrial belt, and the Talegaon MIDC area to the west, where Hyundai began producing cars at the former General Motors plant in October 2025. Buyers should be clear about the trade-offs. Gahunje is far from central Pune, public transport is thin, and outside the township there are few established shops, schools or hospitals. It suits buyers who prioritise a large gated township and expressway access over an urban neighbourhood.
