On 7 April 2026, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis opened the first phase of Mumbai Metro Line 9, and trains started carrying passengers the next morning. The stretch is short, roughly 5 km from Dahisar East to Kashigaon, with new stations at Pandurang Wadi and Miragaon. For anyone who has crawled through the Dahisar check naka on the Western Express Highway, it's the first rail link into Mira-Bhayandar that isn't the Western Railway local.
What Mumbai Metro Line 9 phase 1 covers
Line 9 is the northern extension of the Red Line, built by MMRDA to run from Dahisar East through Mira Road to Bhayandar. Phase 1 has four stations:
- Dahisar East (the existing station, interchange with Line 7 and Line 2A)
- Pandurang Wadi
- Miragaon
- Kashigaon
The interchange is the point. From Kashigaon you can now stay on the metro through Dahisar East and ride Line 7 down the Western Express Highway towards Andheri East, or switch to Line 2A along Link Road. Before April, that trip started with a bus or an auto to Dahisar.
Where this helps home buyers
The people who gain most are households in Mira Road East within walking distance of Kashigaon and Miragaon, and anyone who works in the Andheri East, Goregaon or Malad office belts. IndiProp lists two projects in Mira Road, with an indicative median asking rate of about ₹13,160 per sq ft and starting prices from about ₹67 lakh. The comparison across the Dahisar border is stark.

The metro changes the commute half of that trade-off, not the price half. A cheaper flat in Mira Road only works if the daily trip is bearable. If your office is near a Line 7 station, that trip should now be more predictable than the road.
What buyers often get wrong about a new line
People price in the whole corridor on the day the first stretch opens. Phase 1 stops at Kashigaon. Sai Baba Nagar, Deepak Hospital (Medtiya Nagar), Shahid Bhagat Singh Garden and Subhash Chandra Bose Stadium in Bhayandar are still to open, with a reported target of December 2026. If the building you like is nearer one of those, your commute hasn't changed yet.
Walk it. Time the walk from the tower gate to the nearest open station at 8.30 am and check there's a usable footpath. "Five minutes from the metro" in a brochure usually assumes a car.
What is still uncertain
- The Bhayandar stations. December 2026 is a target. Mumbai metro deadlines have slipped before.
- The airport spur. Line 7A, the underground link from Gundavali to Terminal 2, is also reported for December 2026. Until it runs, treat a direct metro ride from Mira Road to the airport as a plan.
- Prices. There's no reliable registered-sale data yet showing whether prices near the new stations have moved since April. Be wary of anyone quoting a percentage rise "because of the metro".
