Fewer than 200 days after its first domestic departure on 25 December 2025, Navi Mumbai International Airport sent its first international flight to Abu Dhabi on 15 July 2026. The Air India Express service started twice a week and was reported to go to three weekly flights from 29 July. The inaugural flight also carried the airport's first international perishable export consignment.
Navi Mumbai airport international flights: where things stand
At the time of the launch, the airport was connected to 46 domestic destinations, had handled more than 2.3 million passengers and was running about 150 air traffic movements a day, according to figures reported with the launch. The Abu Dhabi route was described as the first of several international services, with Gulf and Middle East destinations expected to come first and IndiGo named among the likely carriers.
One route three times a week is a start, not an international hub. For most travellers in the region, long-haul flights still leave from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai.
What it means for home buyers
For buyers, the domestic opening in December mattered more than this one route. What July adds is confirmation that customs, immigration and cargo are running, which is what airport-linked employers need before they commit to the area.

A common mistake with "near the airport" listings
"Panvel" on a listing can mean anything from the old town to large townships several kilometres away. Ask for the exact village or sector, then check the drive to the terminal at a weekday peak hour rather than trusting a straight-line distance. And if a flat sits under the approach path, visit in the evening, when flights are frequent, before you pay a token.
Check the MahaRERA registration and possession date on any under-construction project. An airport opening doesn't shorten a builder's construction timeline.
What is still uncertain
- More international routes. Further Gulf routes were expected, but no confirmed list or dates beyond Abu Dhabi were published with the launch.
- Capacity growth. Later phases and a larger second terminal are planned, and their timing will decide how many jobs the airport creates.
- Prices. There is no registered-sale evidence tying price changes to this route. Be sceptical of "airport premium" claims in sales pitches.
