Ghodbunder Road, Thane

Ghodbunder Road runs north-west from Majiwada and Kapurbawdi in Thane, past Manpada, Kasarvadavali and Gaimukh, to Ghodbunder village and Mira-Bhayandar, where it meets the Western Express Highway. For most of its Thane stretch it lies between Sanjay Gandhi National Park to the west and the creek to the east. The neighbourhoods along it, including Manpada, Patlipada, Waghbil, Kasarvadavali and Bhayanderpada, make up the fastest-growing part of the city.

Much of this stretch was undeveloped until the 2000s. Today it is lined with large gated townships, schools, malls such as R Mall at Manpada and attractions such as Tikuji-ni-Wadi and Suraj Water Park. Housing is mostly high-rise, with 1, 2 and 3 BHK flats in big complexes and some larger homes in the newer towers, bought by young families and professionals who work in Thane, the eastern suburbs or the Western Express Highway belt. The road is also a truck route between the port and Gujarat, and traffic is heavy at peak hours. Relief is coming. Metro Line 4 and its 4A extension run along the road, with the first stretch from Gaimukh to Cadbury Junction in trial runs in September 2026, and the Thane-Borivali twin tunnel under the national park is under construction.

IndiProp lists two projects on Ghodbunder Road, both shown as ready to move. Lodha Splendora, at Bhayanderpada near the Kasarvadavali end, has 1, 2 and 3 BHK flats; possession was due in December 2022 and it was listed from about ₹48.5 lakh. One Hiranandani Park, further south near Manpada, offers 1 to 4 BHK homes; possession was due in December 2019 and it was listed from about ₹1.03 crore. Resale and remaining inventory prices will differ, so check with the developers.
