Padur, Chennai

Padur is on Old Mahabalipuram Road (Rajiv Gandhi Salai) in Chengalpattu district, roughly 35 to 40 km south of central Chennai. It lies between Egattur and Navalur to the north and Kelambakkam to the south, and the SIPCOT IT Park at Siruseri is about 2 km away. Unlike the OMR neighbourhoods further north, Padur is outside the Greater Chennai Corporation and is run at village panchayat level.

The area grew with the IT corridor. Siruseri's office campuses are a short drive, and the Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science, with its sister Hindustan International School, has long been a local anchor. Supreme Speciality Hospitals is in Padur, and The Marina Mall at Egattur is the nearest large mall. OMR carries most traffic, and buses run through to Sholinganallur and the city. Chennai Metro's Purple Line, which will end at SIPCOT Siruseri, is under construction along OMR. Because it is a panchayat area, water supply, sewerage and drainage are often handled project by project, so check what each development provides. The trip to central Chennai is long, and OMR is slow near Sholinganallur at office hours.

Housing is mostly gated apartment projects and plotted layouts, at lower prices than Sholinganallur and Navalur. Buyers are IT staff working in Siruseri and further up OMR, and first-time buyers. IndiProp lists four projects. Godrej Azure, Godrej Azure Phase 2 and Godrej Azure Phase 3 had possession due in December 2022, so IndiProp shows all three as ready to move; they were listed from about ₹23 lakh, ₹60.3 lakh and ₹42 lakh respectively, figures that are likely dated. TVS Verde Vista is under construction, with possession due in December 2029 and prices from about ₹72.5 lakh.
