Sonarpur, Kolkata

Sonarpur is the heart of Rajpur Sonarpur, a municipality in South 24 Parganas that dates from 1876, has 35 wards and counted 424,368 people in 2011. It lies within the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority's planning area, south of Garia, and takes in neighbourhoods such as Jagaddal, Kamalgazi and Narendrapur. Much of the housing is independent homes and small apartment buildings, and larger gated projects have begun to appear along the southern end of the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass. The area is known for its engineering colleges, including Netaji Subhash Engineering College, Future Institute of Engineering and Management and Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology.

Sonarpur Junction is on the Sealdah to Namkhana line of the Sealdah South suburban network, the main public transport link into the city. By road, the Southern EM Bypass leads north to Garia, Ruby and Salt Lake. The Orange Line of the Kolkata Metro starts at Kavi Subhash in New Garia and has run to Beleghata since August 2025, although services were still infrequent at that stage. Health care locally is limited, with bigger hospitals further north along the Bypass, and some low-lying pockets are prone to waterlogging in the monsoon, so check the site's drainage.

Srijan lists 1,236 sq ft units from ₹85 lakh and 1,615 sq ft units from ₹1.10 crore, which appear to be super built-up areas, and the common areas are designed to be barrier-free. Phase 1 is registered with WBRERA as WBRERA/P/SOU/2026/004474, with completion due by March 2031, so this is a long wait.
