Roshanabad, on the western side of Haridwar, is where the district administration has its offices, and it adjoins the Integrated Industrial Estate run by SIDCUL, the state's industrial development corporation. That estate covers about 2,034 acres and houses more than 650 companies, including ITC, Hindustan Unilever, Dabur, Mahindra and Havells, while BHEL's Ranipur plant and township lie towards the city. Much of the housing in the area was built for people who work in these factories, and the locality also draws buyers looking for a second home within reach of the Ganga ghats.
The area is quieter and more spread out than old Haridwar. According to Hero Homes, the SIDCUL estate is about 1 km from its township, the district court about 3 km, Patanjali Yogpeeth about 14 km, Haridwar railway station about 15 km and Har Ki Pauri about 17 km. Jolly Grant Airport near Dehradun is about 51 km away. The Delhi to Dehradun Expressway, inaugurated in April 2026, has shortened the drive from Delhi, and a spur towards Haridwar is being built. Crowds and traffic build up in the city during the Kanwar season and the Kumbh, the next of which is expected in 2027.
